CIRCLE LENS REVIEW: BUNNY 3-COLOR GRAY (SPONSORED BY KLENSPOP)

Hello!~ 你好!

I'm back today with a first-time sponsored lens from Klenspop.com! I highly recommend this online lens shop because not only are their prices great, but they carry awesome lenses and have amazing service. This package arrived safely bubble-wrapped with two sheets, and the lenses are kept in an adorable box with a girl on it. Moreover, the package arrived in less than two weeks from Korea!

Here are some pictures of the unpacking:

Cute, right? The lenses also came with a free lens case and pair of tweezers!

Here are pics of the lenses:

As you can see, the gray is very gradual and natural looking. There is also a ring of yellow around the center of the lens, which is supposed to help blend brown eyes into the gray while adding a bit of vibrance.

Here are pictures of me wearing them:

Manufacturer: LENSPOP
Diameter: 14.5mm
Graphic Diameter: 13.3mm
Usage Period: 1 year
Water Content: 38%

On to the review...
Comfort level: ☆☆
These are not that comfortable, especially compared to regular contacts and GEO lenses. Although they are very thin, my eyes feel constantly dried out and tired. Furthermore, I think that the yellow ring is the culprit of my slightly blurred vision when wearing these. I wore these throughout an entire day as a test, and I found myself wanting to change out of them.

Enlargement: ☆☆☆
Since there is no black ring and the graphic diameter is only 13.3, there is absolutely no enlargement. This lens really only changes your eye color and does not achieve a dolly look.

Naturalness: ☆☆☆☆
Although they look quite a bit scary up close, no one even noticed that I was wearing lenses! The gray color is pretty but subtle, and as you can see in the pictures, they look quite natural indeed.

Overall: ☆☆☆
These are inexpensive (currently $15) and natural, so I would recommend these to someone who is on a budget and/or wants a pair of gray lenses for occasional use. Otherwise, these are probably not for you!

Thanks for joining me! I highly recommend Klenspop, especially for their kindness and great service! Please check them out at klenspop.com. 再见!

All opinions are 100% my own.

CIRCLE LENS REVIEW: GEO Twinkle Gray

Today I'll be reviewing GEO Twinkle Gray Lenses that I bought from Klenspop! When I opened up the box, the smaller box containing the lenses was very well wrapped in bubble wrap. Not only was this smaller box cute, but it also contained a free gift set of a lens case and tweezers.

Here are the lenses:

Actually, on the left lens, the black rim was a bit misprinted in a small area. Other than that, the lenses were fine.

Here are some pictures of me wearing the lenses! Since it's nighttime right now, the photos are taken with indoor lighting. However, the lenses look even brighter in natural light.

Specs:
14.2 mm diameter (13.8 graphic diameter)
1 year disposable
40% water content

 Now onto the review...

Comfort level: ☆☆☆☆☆
I'm a regular wearer of 60% water content silica hydrogel contacts, and so these 40% water content lenses definitely are not nearly as comfortable. However, they are not too drying or large, and they hold up for a good couple of hours!

Enlargement: ☆☆☆☆
There is a definite dark black rim which is not exactly very natural, but it does enlarge my eyes despite the smaller diameter. Overall, the enlargement is very subtle. I like it!

Naturalness: ☆☆☆☆
Aside from the obvious unnaturalness of the gray color, these lenses look pretty natural! The wave-like pattern really blends with your eye color.

Overall: ☆☆☆☆☆
GEO definitely makes my favorite lenses! These lenses are super chic and relatively natural, making them a regular favorite for me to wear!

Thanks for joining me! Pictures of GEO Twinkle Brown will go up soon, but the review is the same. 再见!

All opinions are 100% my own.

Korean Recipe: Delicious Ddukbokki 떡복이

안녕하세오! Today I will be sharing with you my personal tried-and-true recipe for ddukbokki, or spicy and sweet Korean rice cake.

 Doesn't it look absolutely delicious?

I made this dish on Thanksgiving to share with my relatives, so it's not as red and spicy as I would normally like. However, the savory sweetness helps make up for the spicy kick if you're not into spicy foods.

What you'll need (for about 4 people):
  • 1 package of Korean rice cake (you can find this at any asian supermarket, fresh dduks are the most delicious)
  • Gochujang, or Korean red pepper paste
  • Garlic
  • Odeng, or Korean fish cake
  • Honey
  • Chicken broth (canned is fine)
  • Sugar (I personally like using stevia sweetener to cut down on sugar)
  • Water
  • Flat and large nonstick pan
Optional but recommended
  • Beef
  • Kimchi
  • Mushrooms
  • Ramen
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Directions:
  1. Prepare rice cake according to package. Usually, you only need to rinse them in cold water.
  2. *Optional* Stir fry thin slices of beef in a little oil over high heat until mostly cooked
  3. Pour about 3-3.5 cups of water into the pan. Then pour about 1/4 of the canned chicken broth.
  4. Add minced or finely cut garlic and plenty of kimchi.
  5. Slowly stir in about 1-2 tablespoons of the red pepper paste. This should be pretty mild–if you want spicier ddukbokki, you can add more now or later.
  6. Stir in 3 tablespoons of honey. You can add to the sweetness later.
  7. Once everything is dissolved in the sauce, slowly place the rice cakes in the sauce. The sauce will thicken and be absorbed as the rice cakes cook. Stir consistently to prevent sticking. If the level water is below half the height of the rice cakes, add more water until the level is 3/4 of the rice cakes' height.
  8. Add any veggies and fish cake and stir well to coat them in the sauce.
  9. If you wish to add ramen, be sure to break it into chunks before placing in the pan.
  10. Once the rice cakes are soft and beginning to stick to the pan, taste the sauce. You can add sugar until it is distinctively sweet, and pepper paste or flakes until it is satisfyingly spicy. Also, add more chicken broth if it is not salty enough. If the sauce becomes too thick and the rice cakes stick a lot more to the sides, you can add a little water to continue cooking.
  11. Once the taste of the sauce is satisfying and the rice cakes are soft and sticky, turn off the heat.
  12. Pour the mixture into a bowl or plate and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  13. Serve immediately. If the rice cakes become cool and dry, reheat over the stove and add a little water.
Enjoy! Please let me know how this recipe works for you! Feel free to substitute and experiment with ingredients.

Happy cooking~
K.x
